REACH AND TEACH PROGRAMS
|
With Yearoutindia teaching programs in rural communities,
you can get involved in taking normal classes, assisting the
teaching staff, conducting extracurricular activities like
clay modeling, painting, drawing, singing, art &
drama, dancing, group work, games or other similar
activities. Your help and assistance will be greatly appreciated
in these rural schools and will be a refreshing change to
existing curriculum. These schools typically have limited
resources, both infrastructure and staff.
If you're a native English speaker or with some teaching experience,
you can be a valuable resource in these village classrooms.
With your English skills you could teach proper English pronunciation
and usage. Even if you've never formally taught a classroom
subject, you can assist the local teachers in their day to
day work at the school. You don't need to know the local language,
or the methods of the local school system. All you need is
enthusiasm and a desire to share your knowledge.
On
some days, you'll meet your students for informal
English language training. At other times, instructions
may take the form of field trips, audio visual programs,
games or other organized events. You could also teach
various other disciplines according to your choice
or ability. Most of our partner rural schools welcome
your participation in their programs. All resources
required for these activities will be provided by
Yearoutindia.
You
can be a valuable resource in the classroom teaching
students from elementary through to high school. With
most programs you can volunteer as an "English
Teacher" which are enjoyable, intensive projects.
These can be extended according to the need of the
host school and the individual volunteer.
|
|
Volunteers
can also host discussions about their homelands, including
culture, history, lifestyles, sports and school systems. The
emphasis of both the classroom teaching and teaching English
is on improving real-life conversational skills, not formal
rules of grammar. You'll usually teach four hours a day, Monday
through Friday, and have four hours each day to collaborate
with your team mates and prepare for classes. The rest of
the day is for free time.
