DO IT ALL PROGRAMS

Yearoutindia "Do it all" programs give volunteers an opportunity to take part in many different types of volunteering activities within the limited time they have. These programs are planned and scheduled on a week to week basis and could involve the volunteer taking part in a community development project in a rural village one week to spending next two weeks at a wildlife sanctuary.

Unlike other volunteering projects, this requires a more flexible approach and ability to work with varying time commitments. You may choose to help out with patient care in a local hospital or participate in a medical camp in the interiors or to spend time with the little kids at an orphanage. Some project can be long and require contributing from the beginning to the end of the project.

The work involved could be in an extremely remote location and so you will receive detailed briefing and first aid instructions. Volunteers will follows instructions of the program leader at all times and respect local culture and traditions. During forest and wildlife conservation projects the volunteer will follow forest safety guidelines as the environment is dangerous and evacuation is difficult.
It must be stressed that volunteers will not have the opportunity to be alone at any time in the forest as it is a harsh environment in which you can get lost very easily. You will be prepared thoroughly for any eventuality and your skills will be tested on a continuous basis.

Program days are full and have early morning starts. Program activities run throughout the day and some programs can involve dusk or night trips. You will have time off between projects to travel and explore India. A typical Do It All program schedule is as follows:
A 2 week work program in a rural school. You can get involved in taking normal classes, assisting the teaching staff, conducting extra curricular activities like Clay modeling, Painting, Drawing, Singing, Drama, Dancing, Group work, games or other similar activities
3-4 days break. You could use this time to catch up with other volunteers at the base camp, or spend your time sunbathing on the beach. You could take day trips to various destinations and checkout the local tourist attractions.
Spend 2 weeks taking part in forest conservation project in the Western Ghat Mountain range.
Spend a week or two traveling across south India and visit Mumbai, Bangalore, Pondicherry, Madras etc. or choose to explore various destinations outside the normal tourist track.
Work in an orphanage for a week or two. You can help expand and maintain residential training and daycare facilities or help host staff conduct recreational activities, teach classes and serve meals. If you have first-hand experience working with children with disabilities, professionally or personally, your expertise can be especially useful in this project.

These programs offer an enriching and rewarding experience to overseas volunteers and a chance to work on worthwhile projects.
You will have ample time to relax and rest in-between programs. Since most programs run during the week, you can return to the relative luxury of the base camp for weekends.
